Ireland weather: Met Eireann confirm stunning sunshine set to stay as country basks in mini-heatwave

Met Eireann have confirmed that the little mini-heatwave we've been experiencing in the last couple of days will stay until at least this weekend.

Monday and Tuesday have both seen temperatures hit the low-twenties and they're only going to get higher as the week progresses.

As it stands, according to the latest prediction from Met Eireann, it'll be Thursday that sees the best weather, with temperatures set to hit a whopping 27C in some parts of the country.

Though the forecaster does warn that things will be 'back to around average' on Saturday and Sunday, it'll still be clear, warm and dry.

Which are the three things any Irish person will ask for in a normal day.

Here's the latest from Met Eireann:

Wednesday

"Dry and very warm again with long spells of sunshine. A little cloudier in the west and southwest at times. Some mist and fog patches will linger, mainly near northeastern and eastern coasts. Highest temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees, in a light east to northeast breeze.

Wednesday night

"Dry with long clear spells and just light easterly breezes. Some mist and fog in parts too, especially across the north. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees Celsius, in light northeast or variable breezes.

Thursday

"Dry and very warm for the main with long spells of late summer sunshine and just light northeast breezes. The warmest day of the week with top temperatures of 22 to 27 degrees Celsius, warmest across the midlands.

Friday

"Dry and warm for most with spells of sunshine, though it will be cooler and cloudier across eastern counties with perhaps some lingering mist and fog here. Top temperatures of 17 to 23 or 24 degrees Celsius, warmest across Atlantic counties, in a light to moderate easterly breeze."
