Ireland weather: Met Eireann warning as expert issues December 'snowstorm' urgent update

Met Eireann has another risky warning in place for parts of Ireland as expert Carlow Weather tweets about a "snow storm hell" in the next nine days.

Friday will start cold with fog and frost and will turn into a rather dull day with isolated showers on the coast.

Temperatures of 4C will fall suddenly to -2C overnight remaining mostly dry under clear skies with the risk of fog forming in dense patches.

Elsewhere, there is a status yellow fog warning in place for Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford with a risk of dense fog until 10am this morning.

It also comes as expert Carlow Weather spoke of a "hell of an outlier" in their forecast which showed a "snow storm" in the next week or so.

Carlow Weather said: "The overnight run of the ECMWF model shows a storm in 9 days time with snow.

"*However* the ensembles show this is one hell of an outlier.

"That is the main run shown is way out of line with the average across the weather models. The black line in first photo shows this."

Here's how the weekend and start of next week are looking according to Met Eireann:

Tomorrow: "Saturday will be cloudy with patchy light rain and drizzle at times. Temperatures will be between 5 and 7 degrees generally. Winds will be light to moderate easterly."

Saturday night: "The outlook for tomorrow night is for rather cloudy conditions to continue, with patchy rain at times in the northwest of the country, otherwise it will be mainly dry. Temperatures through the night will remain unchanged or even rise a little, generally between 6 and 8 degrees in light easterly winds."

Sunday : "There'll be isolated showers but overall a dry day with cloudy conditions prevailing. Temperatures will be between 9 and 11 degrees with light variable; winds. Temperatures will fall overnight to between 3 and 5 degrees."

Monday : "It will be mainly dry with some brighter weather for the morning in the south and east for a time, cloud in the northwest will bring outbreaks of rain there, otherwise a generally dry day once again with temperatures of 9 or 10 degrees in a moderate southwest wind, become fresh at times in the north. Little change in temperatures overnight as it remains cloudy but largely dry."

Tuesday : "It will be cloudy too and staying mostly dry with temperatures in the afternoon of around 10 degrees with light winds becoming westerly in direction."
