Ireland weather: Highs of 25C expected this week in mild humid conditions

The mercury is set to rocket to a sizzling 25C later this week as mild humid conditions dominate.

Met Eireann revealed we'll see highs of 16C to 19C today but parts of the country will also be hit lashed by heavy downpours.

A forecaster said:"Today will be mild, humid and mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Some drier interludes will occur too, but heavy persistent downpours are likely to feed up over Connacht and west Ulster during the afternoon and evening."

And it will be another warm night with highs of 11C to 14C.

Heading into Tuesday, the humid conditions will continue with further spells of rain in most areas.

A forecaster added: "Northwestern parts may see some drier and brighter spells. The rain is likely to be very patchy in the southeast. Highest temperatures of 15C to 17C with light to moderate southerly breezes."

Meanwhile, Wednesday will see a lot of dry weather and temperatures will begin to climb with highs of 17C to 21C.

Thursday looks set to be a scorcher with highs of 18C to 25C.

Leinster will enjoy the warmest conditions with light breezes.

A forecaster said: "Thursday will be warmer with sunny spells. It will be mainly dry but a few isolated heavy showers are possible late in the day."

And Met Eireann cautioned that there is a risk of heavy or thundery showers on Thursday night and Friday as "warm muggy" conditions continue.
