Ireland weather: Expert forecasts gloomy weekend with 'risk of some heavy rain'

With people already looking forward to next weekend as they return to work, Met Eireann are forecasting a mixed bag in terms of Ireland's weather.

While the mercury will reach 20C on some days, others will be dominated by spells of heavy rain. Much of this week will be cloudy, with temperatures near average with more widespread rain is likely later in the week.

Sadly, renowned weather expert Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather is also saying that the upcoming weekend is shaping up to be a bit of a washout that's "unsettled with risk of some heavy rain."

In a post online, he said: "Lots of people asking about the weekend and it is looking unsettled with risk of some heavy rain. However, the details are a little uncertain yet with weather models not agreed on how wet. I’ll keep you updated during the week.

As for the coming days, here's what's on the horizon...
