Ireland weather: Dramatic video shows staggering 60-foot waves off Irish coast

Here is the dramatic moment a staggering 60-foot wave hit the west coast of Ireland.

The video was shot in Mullaghmore, Co Sligo on the Wild Atlantic Way on Wednesday.

The footage also shows elite surfer Conor Maguire bravely navigating the enormous waves.

Red Bull Ireland wrote on Twitter yesterday: "It's not often you get to take on waves hitting 60 FEET off Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way!

"Our elite athlete Conor Maguire did just that at Mullaghmore today."

It comes as we are braced for more miserable weather with every county under a Status Yellow wind warning from 1am until 3pm on Saturday.

The entire country is also under a four-day alert from Met Eireann for stormy conditions throughout the weekend.

The advisory reads: "Very unsettled weather will occur over the Halloween weekend as a series of vigorous Atlantic weather systems pass close to Ireland.

"Spells of heavy rain will lead to surface and river flooding.

"Very windy/stormy at times with some severe and damaging gusts possible.

"Some coastal flooding possible also due to the combination of low pressure, high tides and onshore winds.

"Very high seas.

"Please consult your county warnings from Met Éireann on a day by day basis."
