Ireland weather: Days ahead to feel like summer again as Met Eireann predicts hot, humid and sunny conditions

High temperatures and sunny spells over the next few days will make it feel like summer again in Ireland.

The country has experienced grim conditions in the past few weeks considering the time of year.

But Met Eireann says parts of Ireland will enjoy highs of 21C or 22C on Thursday and Friday.

Forecasters are predicting humid conditions and spells of sunshine, but some areas - mainly the west - are in for some rainfall.

A spokesman said: "Today will start off mostly cloudy with patches of mist and drizzle, however sunny spells will develop, particularly in the south and east.

"Remaining cloudier on Atlantic coasts with occasional patchy drizzle.

"Maximum temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, but cooler along Atlantic coasts, in moderate westerly breezes.

Thursday night

"Tonight will be mostly cloudy and humid, with mist and fog developing.

"Patchy light rain and drizzle in Connacht and west Ulster will become persistent and heavier towards morning, remaining mostly dry elsewhere.

"Minimum temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly breezes.

Friday night

"Rain in the northwest on Friday morning will extend southeastwards slowly during the day.

"Remaining mostly dry, till evening, in the southeast with some hazy sunny spells at times.

"Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees generally, with 18 to 21 degrees in any sunny spells for the southeast. Winds will be moderate to fresh and southwesterly in direction."

Saturday will see temperatures of up to 20C but may areas will experience rain.

Sunday will be slightly cooler, however, all areas will get good spells of sunshine.

Saturday

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Rain clearing the southeast early with a mix of cloud and sunny spells following from the west.

"Some occasional light rain or drizzle will however develop along the Atlantic coast throughout the day.

"Maximum temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest winds.

Saturday nights

"Mostly clear and dry with minimum temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in light west to northwest breezes.

Sunday

"Mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.

"Maximum temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees in light to moderate northwest or variable winds.

"Sunday night: Mostly clear and dry with minimum temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees in light northwesterly or variable breezes."
