Parts of the country have been hit with snow this evening as temperatures plummet.
Despite the warm weather throughout the week the country is set to be hit with storm like conditions with heavy rain and harsh winds landing on Irish shores.
Reports of snow have already arrived in the west with Co. Mayo seeing blankets of the white stuff.
Now Met Eireann has put in place a number of weather warnings as the horrific conditions hit throughout the weekend
A Status Yellow wind warning will take effect for Donegal, Mayo, and Galway as southwest winds set to reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with gusts of up to 100 km/h.
The alert will take effect from 8pm on Saturday and will be in place until 2am on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile a separate Status Yellow Gale warning is in place with weather chiefs warning that westerly winds will reach gale force this evening and early tonight on Irish coastal waters from Loop Head to Erris Head to Malin Head and also on the Irish Sea.
A forecaster said: "Scattered showers will continue for a time early tonight, some heavy with hail, sleet and snow and the ongoing risk of isolated thunderstorms.
"Showers will gradually become more isolated overnight and most areas will become dry with clear skies by morning. Moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong at times on Atlantic coasts, will gradually ease light to moderate overnight. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees, with a risk of patchy frost in sheltered areas.
"Tomorrow, Saturday, will be largely dry with just isolated showers and sunny spells to start. However, cloud will build from the west through the morning, bringing outbreaks of rain and drizzle to most areas through the afternoon and evening. Rain will be most persistent in the west and northwest, where it will turn heavy at times.
"Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds at first, increasing fresh to strong and gusty through the morning. Some localised coastal flooding will be possible along the west coast.
"Rather wet and breezy conditions for the rest of the weekend and to start next week, with continued outbreaks of rain particularly affecting the west and northwest.
"Wet and very windy on Saturday night. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue overnight, heaviest and most persistent in the west and northwest. Fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds, reaching near gale force in the west, will gradually ease moderate to fresh overnight. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
"Sunday will be another wet and breezy day. Rain and drizzle will ease for a time in the morning but further outbreaks of rain will spread from the west through the afternoon and evening, later turning heavy over western counties. A mild day with highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds, strong along west and southwest coasts.
"Sunday night will be cloudy with continued outbreaks of rain, most persistent in the west and northwest. Remaining breezy too with moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees."
