Ireland under-21 star Dara O'Shea signs new West Brom deal

Republic of Ireland under-21 international Dara O'Shea has committed his long term future to West Brom.

The 20 year-old centre-half has agreed a new deal and put pen to paper on a three and a half year contract that will keep him at the Championship side until the summer of 2023.

Manager Slaven Bilic confirmed in a press conference today that the Dubliner has signed the deal, and is a big admirer of O'Shea - handing him a league debut back in December as well as game time in both the EFL Cup and FAI Cup.

As well as making a breakthrough for the Baggies this season, O'Shea has become a key figure for Stephen Kenny's high-flying under-21 side as they chase qualification for the Euro 2021 finals.

West Brom currently lie on top of the Championship, one point ahead of rivals Leeds United, and O'Shea will hope to help his club return the Premier League after their 2018 relegation.

“I’m smiling as it’s a boost for us,” said Bilic on the announcement.

"I rate him highly. Dara is definitely the future but not only that he is the present too - I count on him a lot.

“It’s brilliant for us that he’s committed himself to us but it’s also great for him because I can’t see any better place for him than West Brom.”
