Ulster's Billy Burns makes his first Test start at no 10, with Ross Byrne on the bench as cover, while full-back Shane Daly of Munster is poised to make his Ireland debut off the bench.
Farrell has made nine changes from the loss to England last week, among those Tadhg Beirne is restored to the side after missing out at Twickenham, but he starts in the back row at blindside as part of three positional changes.
James Ryan is named as captain again in the absence of Johnny Sexton, but has another second row partner in the form of Ulster skipper Iain Henderson, who makes his first start in any competitive game since February.
