Ireland team to face Qatar: Stephen Kenny makes wholesale changes for friendly match

Stephen Kenny has made wholesale changes to his starting team for tonight's friendly match with Qatar in Hungary.

Only three players - Gavin Bazunu, Seamus Coleman and Dara O'Shea - retain their places after the 1-0 defeat to Luxembourg on Saturday.

After fielding youthful sides in the World Cup qualifier losses to Luxembourg and Serbia, Kenny has opted for experience with James McClean, Shane Duffy, Jeff Hendrick, Robbie Brady and Shane Long all starting.

There are also places in the starting eleven for Cyrus Christie and Daryl Horgan, while Jayson Molumby, who started against Serbia, will get another chance to impress.

Dropping to the bench for tonight's match include Josh Cullen, Ciaran Clark, Alan Browne, Jason Knight and Callum Robinson.

Ireland are without injured pair Matt Doherty and Enda Stevens for the clash that is set to get underway at 7.45pm .
