Ireland striker Adam Idah receives racial abuse after Norwich loss

Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah has revealed he received a barrage of racist messages following Norwich's defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Idah made just his second league start of the season as the Canaries slumped to yet another loss in what has been a hugely disappointing season so far.

But off the pitch, Idah faced far worse as he took to social media to post a screenshot containing a series of vile racist messages directed at him.

A user on Instagram sent a series of monkey emojis to the striker, who posted them to his story on the social media network.

Idah's club Norwich City have yet to comment on the matter.

The shocking abuse comes as the UK government confirmed the introduction of a new law due to come into effect early in 2022 which will see online racist abusers banned from attending all football games in England and Wales for up to 10 years.
