Ireland scams: An Post warning on simple trick devious fraudsters successfully using to snatch money for fake packages

An urgent warning has been issued after a major fraud email is going around targeting Irish people.

Devious scammers have been emailing people demanding money for packages while pretending to be from An Post.

The convincing-looking scam email reads: "Your package is waiting for delivery. Confirm payment of 2.99 EUR in the following link. Verification must be done online in the next three days before it expires."

But when you click on the email address, it brings up an email ID completely unrelated to An Post.

The warning was posted on the Greystones Open Forum page by a concerned local who said: "An Post scam happening again!! It caught me out last year so just sharing here in case anyone else gets an email/text.

"When you click on the email address you can see it’s a scam so be vigilant."

Dublin Live has contacted An Post for a comment.
