There has been a full return to classrooms for students in primary and secondary school in Ireland today.
Over a million students and staff came back to classrooms today as the country prepares to ease its Covid-19 restrictions for the first time this year.
Restrictions are expected to be eased further on April 19 and April 26.
Unlike the Halloween, Christmas, February and Easter holidays, school summer holiday dates in Ireland are not standardised by the Dept of Education and vary from school to school.
Schools are required to be open for a minimum of 167 days at post-primary level and 183 days at primary level.
Primary and secondary schools will get get Monday , 3 May 2021 off because it is a bank holiday.
Primary schools usually finish the school year sometime during the last week in June.
Students and staff at primary school level will get Monday , 7 Jun 2021 off, secondary schools students in the main will be already be off for that one.

Private primary schools may finish at the end of May.
Secondary schools will not be open beyond the Friday preceding the June bank holiday in any year so as to facilitate the state exams for third and sixth years which get underway in June.
Summer holidays are not standardised and schools may use discretionary days to determine the precise start and end of the school year.
Most schools will reopen after the summer holidays during the week in which 1st September falls.
