Ireland's Robbie Brady finally makes Bournemouth debut after nine months out

Ireland star Robbie Brady made his long-awaited debut for Bournemouth against Fulham on Sunday after nine months out.

It was the midfielder's first senior match since Ireland's 1-1 draw with Qatar back in March.

The Dublin native was released by Burnley at the end of the last of season and signed for Bournemouth in October after a lengthy spell without a club as he regained fitness.

Brady came on in the 88th minute to replace Jaidon Anthony.

He wasn't the only Irishman playing last night as 22-year-old keeper Mark Travers was between the sticks for Bournemouth and pulled off some key saves.

Ireland Under-21 international Gavin Kilkenny was on the bench for the Cherries and was an unused substitute.

Dominic Solanke’s goal just seconds into the start of the second half looked like it would be enough to send Bournemouth to the top of the table but a late equaliser from Tosin Adarabioyo saved a point for the home side.

Cherries boss Scott Parker praised Brady's efforts in training over the last few weeks and if it wasn't for "minor knocks" the 29-year-old would have been involved sooner.

A return to competitive football could mean that Brady will be fighting for a place in Stephen Kenny's next Ireland squad.
