Ireland's playoff against Slovakia expected to go ahead in early October

playoff clash with Slovakia is expected to take place in early October as the first game of a triple header.

UEFA will announce a series of calendar updates tomorrow for club and international football after its Executive Committee meeting.

And chief among them will be confirmation of the Euro 2020 playoff in Bratislava which has been postponed twice already.

But pending confirmation from European football’s governing body, Stephen Kenny’s charges look set to face Slovakia on or around October 7.

Ireland will also play six Nations League games across September, October and November against Bulgaria, Finland and Wales.

Those fixtures were published in March but UEFA will announce tomorrow if any adjustments have to be made to the schedule.

Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers, Derry City and Bohemians should be in European action on the week commencing August 17.

But the first three rounds in the Champions League and Europa League qualifiers are set to be played over one leg.

UEFA are considering whether to compensate the clubs who do not land home ties in the draw, which is scheduled for early August.
