Ireland's newest Wetherspoons proving hugely popular with 'embarrassingly long queues' over the weekend

Ireland's newest Wetherspoons is proving a massive hit with Dubliners with lengthy queues outside each weekend since it has opened.

The pub, located on Dublin's thriving Camden Street, is attracting huge interest with its cheap prices and prime location.

Droves of young people headed to the spot on both Friday and Saturday night with queues visible all the way along the busy street.

Some social media users have labelled the queues "embarrassingly long" as many shared images on Twitter of the large crowds.

One Friday queuer told the Irish Mirror that the long wait time was "worth it" as the prices "are the best in Dublin".

The new pub and hotel opened on August 16 in what was the single largest investment made by the company in its 41-year history.

The company has invested €27.4 million in developing the site on Camden Street Upper and Lower, and purchased the property for €6 million.

Filip Mordak, who has worked for Wetherspoon since 2007 and managed The Forty Foot in Dun Laoghaire and The Silver Penny in Dublin, manages the pub.

The pub and hotel were developed from a series of eight Georgian townhouses (seven of which are protected), a chapel and they added a substantial modern extension featuring a 12-metre-high glazed atrium.

What now exists is a 9,000 square foot of customer space spread out over two floors, plus a 3,800 square foot garden across two enclosed courtyards.

The 89 bedrooms in the hotel will all feature an en suite bathroom, and accessible bedrooms designed for guests with disabilities, including wet-room facilities will also be available.
