Ireland's mini blast of heat as Met Eireann forecast four scorching days to come

The country is set for a much-needed mini heatwave this weekend after a very wet month of May so far.

Met Eireann has forecast temperatures between 15 to 21 degrees this weekend and early next week. The countries first look at warm sunny weather this month.

This weekend could see the hottest day of the year as temperatures surpass the 20-degree Celsius mark.

Here's a rundown of what to expect in the coming days;

Saturday, May 29

Very mild and warm conditions are forecast this Saturday, with good sunny spells expected to break through.

Temperatures will climb up to 21 degrees Celsius, with just a light breeze and some isolated showers.

Sunday, May 30

Most areas across the country are expected to remain dry with warm sunny spells across the country.

Temperatures will range between 19 to 21 degrees Celsius and may be slightly cooler in the south and west coast.

Monday and Tuesday, May 31-June 1

The early days of next week are set to remain predominantly dry and warm with pleasant spells of summer sunshine.

Temperatures are expected to be in the high teens and early twenties. A light, refreshing southerly breeze will be felt along the west and southwest coasts.

Conditions are predicted to turn more unsettles later in the week as a wet weather system moves in from the Atlantic.

A forecaster said: Current indications suggest the early days of next week will remain mostly dry and warm with pleasant spells of summer sunshine.

"However, damp weather may occasionally move in off the Atlantic.

"Maxima will generally reach the high teens or low 20s, in just light southerly breezes, veering northwest and freshening though along west and southwest coasts into Tuesday."
