Ireland's Keane Barry secures first round win in PDC World Darts Championship

Ireland's Keane Barry is through to the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship after defeating Hong Kong's Royden Lam 3-2.

The Drogheda man was absolutely cruising as he took a 2-0 lead in sets, making it all seem like light work.

The 19-year-old went off the boil slightly though, as he allowed Lam to bring it back to 2-2.

Taking the early lead, Barry was clearly far better than Lam but sloppy mistakes allowed the man from Hong Kong to make a game of it as the Irish fans at the Ally Pally in London began to break sweat.

Lam was taking all the chances he manufactured for himself and that allowed him to make ground as Barry couldn't finish out the game earlier.

No doubt Barry will learn from this game as he will take on Jonny Clayton of Wales in the next round.

The Welshman will take on Barry in round two on Sunday in the evening session at Alexandra Palace.

Barry’s victory comes after fellow Irishmen Steve Lennon and William O’Connor also made it through to the second round at this year’s World Darts Championship.
