Ireland's Katie McCabe hits top bins with penalty for Arsenal in big win against Man United in WSL

Katie McCabe continued her fantastic form at club level on Sunday as she scored a powerful penalty for Arsenal Women in their 2-0 league victory over Manchester United.

Arsenal started the game the better with McCabe making a number of surging runs into the penalty area, creating chance after chance for the away side.

Vivianne Miedema opened the scoring for the Gunners, becoming the first WSL player in history to score against every team she’s faced.

McCabe then picked up the ball inside the area and was caught by a bad late challenge with the referee instantly pointing to the spot.

McCabe stepped up and made no mistake by firing a rocket in to the top left corner for her fourth league goal of the season.

Next up for the Ireland skipper is a Group A World Cup qualifying match against Slovakia on Thursday night.

McCabe was October’s Women’s Super League player of the month and was recently named the first global athlete of Miss Kick, the brand founded in 2018 by former Man City and Liverpool youth player Grace Vella that produces kit and clothing designed for female footballers.
