Ireland's hairdressers could reopen in May under proposals being considered

Hairdressers could be allowed to reopen in May under proposals being considered by the government, the Irish Mirror understands.

Cabinet Ministers are holding crunch talks on what sectors of the economy and society will reopen in the coming months.

But a senior government source has confirmed to the Irish Mirror that the government is considering reopening hairdressers in May. Meanwhile, on his way into Cabinet, Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath indicated personal services such as hairdressers will get an update today from the government.

He said: “We recognise there is an onus on government to give something tangible to people who have made such sacrifices.

“And I think beyond the next number of weeks we will lay out what the decisions are for the next number of weeks, there will be a need to give the general public a sense of what lies ahead in the summer and through May, June and July and I think the Taoiseach will be keen to convey that later today.”
