Ireland's Got Talent is being axed by Virgin Media

Ireland's Got Talent (IGT) has been axed by Virgin Media bosses, it has been revealed.

The hit show will not be returning for a third season, a spokesperson confirmed to The Irish Daily Mirror this evening.

IGT launched in 2018 with a star-studded judging panel of Louis Walsh, Denise Van Outen, Jason Byrne and Michelle Visage.

The show initially pulled in large viewing figures but ratings later dipped as they faced stiff competition.

A representative said that the show would not be renewed due to "logistical and scheduling reasons."

She said: "Virgin Media Television are tremendously proud of the show and how it has raised the bar for production in Ireland.

"We look forward to unveiling our new season schedule as we continue to increase our commitment to great content and original Irish programming. Further details will be announced in due course."

Earlier this week, IGT presenter Lucy Kennedy revealed bosses were trying to fit the return of the show around Louis Walsh’s return to the X Factor.

She also told how that Michelle Visage’s rumoured stint on Strictly Come Dancing could also delay the return date.

Speaking of the hit show, the presenter told the Irish Daily Mirror: “I’ve got a lot on, I’ve got Living With Lucy and Ireland’s Got Talent.

"We are just finalising the dates because Louis is doing the X Factor and Michelle is doing Strictly so I think we are going to work around their schedules."
