Ireland's first ever PPE shop opens selling host of products to protect against Covid

The first ever PPE store in Ireland is set to open members of the public this morning.

The new shop situated in Dun Laoighaire, Co Dublin specialises in selling a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment to protect people against the coronavirus.

Customers will be able to get their hands on an array of products which will be useful throughout the pandemic from domestic to industrial items.

Among the products on offer are some that we have become very accustomed to including visors (available in six different colours), face masks hand sanitiser.

But the new shop will also sell other items like thermometers and oximeters (used to assess oxygen levels in tandem with thermometers) and a face mask refresher mist.

Businesses will also be able to get their hands more industrial products for offices such as self cleaning door handles, TV screens, monitors, thermometers and sanitisation solutions from KelTech, an Irish smart technology company.

The shop which is the first of its kind was set up by businessman Martin O’Byrne, owner of high-end menswear shop Frewen & Alyward which is located just six doors down on Lower George’s Street.

Martin came up with the idea to open the new store after his menswear shop was forced to close for three months when the coronavirus first hit.

He told the Irish Times: “I didn’t want to waste the time, and took the opportunity to think outside my menswear bubble.”

“We don’t sell online because we are bricks and mortar, and because we are about service and luxury and a destination shop. That is not very easily done online,”

"If we can save lives and make PPE available to everybody, that will be an end in itself.”
