Ireland ready for challenge of Wales and Storm Ciara, according to assistant coach John Fogarty

Home fans have been told to expect more from Ireland on Sunday afternoon- as Andy Farrell's men brace themselves for the challenge of Grand Slam champs Wales and the arrival of Storm Ciara.

Revenge won't be far from the minds of the home side as they face the Welsh in the championship for the first time since the humbling 25-7 defeat in Cardiff in March of last year.

On that occasion, the sides had to deal with strong winds and heavy rain after Ireland, as the visitors, decided that the Prinicipality Stadium roof would stay open.

Similar weather is forecast for tomorrow and assistant coach John Fogarty said: “We’ve put some scenarios in during the week so that we are adaptable tomorrow. So we will see what the scenario is when we arrive.

“The team leaders and Faz will make some decisions around how we start the game and so on. But we have had a good week and we feel we’re ready for Storm Ciara and Wales.

“I don’t think either team will want to see a storm come in and take away from the occasion. We’ll see what arrives tomorrow - and hopefully it won’t be Storm Ciara.”

Fogarty confirmed that there were no injury problems arising from the Captain's Run led by Johnny Sexton at the Lansdowne Road venue today.

The players know that more is required after a difficult start to their Six Nations campaign against determined Scotland that resulted in a 19-12 victory for Farrell's team.

“We had a number of weeks to prep for Scotland, we have another week in us now,” said Fogarty.

“There’s plenty more to come. There have been huge positives out of last week, the win has really been important.

“As a coaching group, as a whole group, we’re unbelievably excited about where we can go with the team.

"But we’ll do it step by step and tomorrow is another step for us. It’s important that we take it, we’re looking forward to it".
