Ireland pubs and restaurants: Blow for hospitality sector as NPHET raise serious reopening concerns

NPHET has reportedly raised concerns regarding the reopening of the hospitality sector next week.

Dr Tony Holohan and his team met yesterday where they considered the impacts of opening each sector of society.

And it is believed that the public health experts have raised some doubt about the reopening of restaurants after December 1.

NPHET will meet with the Cabinet subcommittee on COVID-19 later today where it will lay out its concerns.

This will come as a further blow to pubs and their hopes of reopening.

It is accepted now that a range of businesses will be able to open their doors again, including most High Street retail, cinemas, gyms, hairdressers and golf clubs.

But it is coming down to the wire over how and when the hospitality sector will be allowed pull up their shutters again.

The rise in new Covid cases on Wednesday was a blow to hopes they could serve again from next Tuesday.
