Ireland player ratings as France edge Six Nations clash at Aviva Stadium

Ireland suffered a 15-13 defeat to France at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon as Andy Farrell's depleted troops fell just short of a comeback win.

Mirror Sport takes a closer look at individual performances here with our player ratings.

HUGO KEENAN 7

Tough on him to get turned over at the death as Ireland chased winning score. Otherwise continues to really impress.

KEITH EARLS 6

Eliminated the mistakes of last week in solid display. Threat under high ball caused Bernard Le Roux to pick up yellow card.

GARRY RINGROSE 8

Took over the captaincy for 10 minutes with Iain Henderson off. Another strong outing in midfield.

ROBBIE HENSHAW 7

Had his hands full with the French midfield but took it in his stride. Gave his all.

JAMES LOWE 6

So close to first try and excellent with his boot again, but again defence was suspect. Very weak for Damian Penaud try.

BILLY BURNS 6

Massive Sexton-size boots to fill but did so confidently in opening half after Cardiff disappointment. Shame he had to stay off after HIA.

JAMISON GIBSON-PARK 7

Mixed bag but did well on Antoine Dupont. Full of energy and invention but a couple of dangerous fumbles thrown in.

CIAN HEALY 5

Unlucky to concede late first half penalty and then to smash heads with Henderson, but was able to return until 70th minute.

ROB HERRING 6

Did the basics well, including solid throwing into the line-out and didn't lose one. Ronan Kelleher breathing down his neck now.

ANDREW PORTER 6

Toiled exhaustively for the cause until the 53rd minute, when he made way for Tadhg Furlong. He got through some mileage recently.

TADHG BEIRNE 7

Not quite as eye-catching as last week but made some big turnovers again and battled Paul Willemse hard in the line-out.

IAIN HENDERSON 8

Led by example in his first game captaining Ireland and was always going to come back on after Healy head clash.

RHYS RUDDOCK 7

Long overdue first Six Nations start and busted a gut for the 80-plus minutes. His physicality is a back row necessity at this level.

JOSH VAN DER FLIER 5

Deservedly kept his place this week and, again, was everywhere in pursuit of attacking blue shirts.

CJ STANDER 6

Made his quota of carries and put in a mass of tackles but the presence of Caelan Doris is missed in this position.

Replacements

ROSS BYRNE 7
TADHG FURLONG 7
RONAN KELLEHER 7
WILL CONNORS 7
JORDAN LARMOUR 6
ED BYRNE 7
ULTAN DILLANE 6
