Ireland name team to play New Zealand as Troy Parrott, Jack Byrne, and Lee O'Connor all start

Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy has taken the unusual step of naming his team to face New Zealand a day in advance.

He confirmed that Troy Parrott, Jack Byrne, Ciaran Clark and Lee O’Connor would start tomorrow’s friendly at Aviva Stadium.

Burton Albion goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara will win his second cap between the posts.

Celtic defender O’Connor starts at right-back with Clark partnered in the centre by Burnley's Kevin Long and Derrick Williams of Blackburn at left-back.

Shamrock Rovers ace Byrne is in a midfield three with on-loan Charlton man Josh Cullen and Preston’s Alan Browne.

Browne’s inclusion is an indication that Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane could get the nod in midfield for Monday’s big showdown with Denmark.

In attack, Tottenham starlet Parrott leads the line with Burnley's Robbie Brady and Sean Maguire of Preston supporting him out wide.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND TEAM (4-3-3): O’Hara; O’Connor, Clark, Long, Williams; Browne, Cullen, Byrne; Brady, Parrott, Maguire.
