Ireland midfielder Alan Judge signs for Colchester United

Ireland midfielder Alan Judge has signed for League One side Colchester United on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old has been without a club since leaving Ipswich Town in April after three seasons at Portman Road.

Judge attracted plenty of interest from other sides in the third tier, but he has opted for the Essex club.

“More or less everything attracted me to the club,” he said.

“There is a good training ground and good young lads coming through, and there is now a good core group of experience.

“I was lucky enough to have a few offers from League One, but everything ticked the box here with what we are trying to do.”

The Dubliner is the latest of a group of players to make the move from Ipswich to Colchester, with Luke Chambers, Cole Skuse and Freddie Sears also making the same switch.
