Ireland Lotto results: Three players miss out on €19 million jackpot

Three people came very close to winning the massive Lotto jackpot on Wednesday.

The three players came within one number of winning the long-running prize.

The record-breaking jackpot of over €19 million has been rolling over for months with enquiries as to what is happening from one TD.

And three players matched five numbers and picked the bonus ball but were all one number short of finally claiming the top prize.

Instead, each punter will have to make do with €283,017 as a consolation.

The winning numbers for the main draw were 4, 10, 21, 27, 41, 42 and the bonus 18.

In total, over 166,000 players won prizes in Lotto and Lotto Plus draws.

It comes as Lotto chiefs told TDs that they want to make changes to the rules so Lotto players won’t have to ever wait as long again at a chance to win a life-changing sum of money.

CEO of the National Lottery, Andrew Algeo said: “We know our customers want this Lotto jackpot to be won soon, as do we.

“So, we have sought regulatory approval to introduce a “must be won draw” into the Lotto game rules, which would ensure that such an improbably long wait for a capped jackpot win cannot occur again.

“That would also allow us to provide certainty to Lotto players, as to the latest date on which this record €19m jackpot will be won by.”
