Ireland lockdown: Full list of restrictions that could be eased in coming weeks as decision date confirmed

The government confirmed it would be publishing the roadmap for a further reopening on August 31.

Officials have hinted that a likely date for the easing will come around mid-September to coincide with the reopening of schools and universities across the country.

While some are speculating what the next easing may bring, it’s currently unclear which restrictions are being considered for the next phase of the reopening.

A number of meetings will take place this week before the updated roadmap is published next Tuesday - NPHET will touch base on Wednesday before a subcommittee meeting on Friday.

Until then, here are all of the restrictions that have yet to be relaxed ahead of the September update:

Weddings

Restrictions on wedding guests remain in place, and while they were dealt some good news a number of weeks ago with a bump in numbers, it's unclear if the government's intention is to allow more in attendance from mid-September.

From Thursday, August 5, the maximum number of guests permitted to attend increased from 50 to 100 as long as protective measures apply.

Organised indoor events

Large conferences, concerts, and shows defined as 'controlled environments with a named event organiser, owner or manager', are not permitted right now.

Sporting activities

While individual training and group matches outdoors are currently allowed, indoor sporting activities including matches, group or team training sessions, and exercise or dance classes are not.

Indoor leisure facilities

Circuses, play centres, amusement arcades, bingo halls, and some other leisure facilities remain closed under current Covid guidelines.

Nightlife

Although pubs and restaurants have reopened in Ireland with strict curfews and health measures in place, nightclubs, discos and casinos remain shut.

All pubs, restaurants and bars currently must stick to strict protocols while serving customers - including checking green passes for indoor service and working with a restricted capacity.

Work from home

Under the current health advice, all employees are still asked to work from home unless it is necessary for them to be in attendance.
