Ireland lockdown: Every rule in new Level 3 restrictions as Government make announcement

Taoiseach Micheal Martin is expected to announce Ireland's Level Five exit strategy later this evening.

A Cabinet meeting is set to take place this morning or afternoon where the strategy for December will be put forward.

NPHET met on Wednesday and put presented their views on Thursday with serious concerns about the retail sector.

However, the Government appear to have a clear strategy in mind and a lot of what is to be announced is already known.

Ireland is leaving lockdown

Ireland will exit lockdown on Tuesday, December 1 and Micheal Martin will confirm that this evening.

The Taoiseach will likely speak about the past five and a bit weeks and the hard work put in by the people of Ireland to get us to this situation.

Level Three appears to be the one the country is headed for but some caveats will be announced.

Retail can open

It's good news for Christmas shoppers as the likes of Smyths, Penneys and the rest of the retail sector will open their doors next Tuesday.

There appears to be no doubts about this particular sector opening.

Gyms and hairdressers

The Taoiseach will announce that gyms can reopen their doors while strict rules apply.

And hairdressers/salons can open up again so you can get yourself tidied up ahead of the Christmas period.

Travel

Micheal Martin will likely move the country to Level Three which will still mean no travel outside of your county except for essential reasons.

It is widely expected that this will change closer to Christmas so people can travel home from Dublin to Kilkenny for example.

No major changes are expected on the international travel front.

Pubs and restaurants

This remains the big mystery at the moment with today's Cabinet meeting set to shed further light on the situation.

NPHET don't want restaurants and pubs to open this Christmas, except for takeaway services.

The Government though are expected to allow restaurants and gastropubs to open their doors later in the month - December 7 is the current date being looked at.

Most people will be listening closely for the Taoiseach's announcement on this.

Gatherings

Household gatherings are the other big talking point with the Government hopeful of giving Ireland a nice Christmas with family.

The exact details of this are not yet known although it is reported up to three households may be allowed gather for Christmas.
