Ireland lockdown changes: Five things you can do from today as new rules confirmed

Ireland's lockdown will continue to ease in the coming days and weeks as the vaccine rollout continues and case numbers remain largely stable.

The country has been under tight restrictions for all of 2021, with some measures eased in recent weeks including the return of schools and construction.

Further changes expected in the coming weeks include the phased return of non-essential retail and personal services including hairdressers and barbers.

However April 26 marks another big step in the road to normality as the latest tweaks are made to our current lockdown.

And the timeline for further lifting of restrictions is expected later this week, as Cabinet will meet to discuss the plan for May, June and July.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin will outline the latest roadmap in an address to the nation on Thursday.

Zoos, petting farms and heritage sites are now allowed to take visitors once again, however amusement parks are not included in this.

3. Play tennis

As outdoor sports facilities return so do tennis courts up and down the country, which are now allowed to reopen again.

4. Underage sport returns

There will be huge relief for kids and parents across Ireland today as underag non-contact outdoor training is allowed to return. However they will be required to take place in pods of 15 or fewer.

5. Funeral attendance

The maximum attendance at funerals has now increased to 25 people.
