Ireland lockdown changes as Cabinet agree reopening plans including pubs, hairdressers and weddings

Haircuts and sports are back from Monday week, with shopping trips a week later.

Cabinet has just agreed all the plans brought by the Covid subcommittee.

This means that the country is set to begin meaningful reopenings the week after next, on May 10th.

In what was hailed as “a day of optimism and hope” by Minister Simon Harris on the way into the meeting earlier, the Cabinet has given the green light to intercounty travel, hairdressers reopening and sports training for adults from Monday week.

Three households will be allowed to meet up outdoors, including in your garden, and up to 50 people can attend mass or other religious services again.

A week later on May 17th will see the mass reopening of shops.

And then two and a half weeks after that again, on June 7th, it’s the big one, with all pubs and restaurants allowed to open again to serve, but only outdoors initially.

Hotels will have been allowed to reopen a few days earlier on June 2, with the bonus for guests able to eat meals like their breakfast inside.
