Ireland is set to enter a second lockdown from midnight with all non-essential retail outlets closing for six weeks.

This means that a lot of businesses across Dublin will either have to close or alter how they operate until the end of November.

The likes of Smyths, Penneys and other clothing shops will close with pubs, restaurants, barbers and hairdressers also closing their doors.

However there will still be essential retailers and services that will stay open for the next six weeks including the following:

  • Outlets selling food and beverages on a takeaway basis.
  • Markets that offer food for sale.
  • Outlets selling products necessary for the essential upkeep and functioning of places of residence and businesses.
  • Pharmacies, chemists and retailers or wholesalers providing pharmaceuticals or pharmaceutical or dispensing services.
  • Outlets selling health, medical or orthopaedic goods in a specialised outlet.
  • Fuel service stations and heating fuel providers
  • Outlets selling essential items for the health and welfare of animals.
  • Laundries and drycleaners
  • Banks, post offices and credit unions
