Ireland international Ronan Curtis is in no hurry to leave Portsmouth

Ireland international Ronan Curtis claims he is in no hurry to leave Portsmouth.

The former Derry City attacker scored his 12th goal of the season for the League One playoff contenders in their FA Cup win over Barnsley on Saturday.

Out of contract in the summer, he continues to be linked with Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

But Curtis said: "There have been no talks yet of leaving, but I love this club to pieces and hopefully I’ll go up with this team.

‘I’m not really ready to leave yet. I’ll take it as it is, I don’t bother keeping my eye on the transfer window, I am here to play football, here to play games.

"I expect to be here after the transfer window, unless the manager gets rid of me! I'm happy to be here.”

Curtis made his senior breakthrough for Ireland in Martin O’Neill’s finals games in charges - bore draws with Northern Ireland and Denmark in late 2018.

Capped three times, he also featured for Mick McCarthy in the friendly win over Bulgaria last September.

Of his future, Curtis told The Portsmouth News’: “Rumours are going to happen.

“I’ve scored 12 goals this season and you’re going to be linked with teams, but it doesn’t mean anything when there’s no bids or nothing coming in.

“There’s not really talks about a new deal. If they want to offer me a new contract they will, but I’m just focusing on my football and want to do the best I can for the team.”

Portsmouth do have the option of a final year on Curtis’ existing deal and he added: “We haven’t spoken about that yet, so we’ll just take it day-by-day and step-by-step.”
