Ireland handed major boost as Georgia hold Denmark in Tbilisi

Ireland have been a major boost in their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2020 after Georgia held Denmark to a 0-0 draw in Tbilisi tonight.

Mick McCarthy's side are two points clear of the Danes at the top of Group D with both sides having played five games - one more than Switzerland who saw off Gibraltar 3-0 and sit a further point back.

Denmark hit the crossbar and home keeper Giorgi Loria produced a brilliant close range stop from striker Kasper Dolberg.

But the Georgians had chances of their own and were value for the draw.

Ireland travel to Tbilisi next month knowing that a win would leave them in a very strong position before two showdowns with Switzerland and Denmark before the end of the year.
