Ireland goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran says side need to 'move on' after Netherlands loss

Ireland goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran says the side need to 'move on' after they lost 4-0 to the Netherlands.

The World Cup finalists were competing with the Netherlands but three final quarter goals ended the contest.

And McFerran was called upon and made 14 saves to keep Ireland in contention.

But she says the side can't be too upset losing to a great team.

"Unfortunately today just wasn't quite our day. We dug in well and I'm really proud of the defensive effort everyone put in. It was a team effort out there but that's the Dutch for you. They're just quite good, aren't they?

"There's several things we have to take and learn from it. We can't just brush it under the carpet, but we have to move on."

And McFerran says that it's a dream to be in Tokyo.

"It's special. I'm proud to be here. I'm really happy with my team that we're here, and playing the No.1 at the Olympics is what you dream of. It's what hockey players want."
