Ireland claim another famous win over New Zealand as they upset the All Blacks 29-20 in Dublin

Ireland have stunned the All Blacks once again, beating them 29-20 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

It may be the case that the Irish have now won three of their last five matches against New Zealand, but the visitors arrived in town having lost just three times since the 2019 Rugby World Cup and went into the match as favourites.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when James Lowe snuck in at the corner, despite the best efforts of Jordie Barrett, in the 14th minute. The score came just 60 seconds after Codie Taylor was sent to the sin bin for a high tackle on Johnny Sexton.

The Irish pivot missed the conversion, though, and New Zealand full-back Barrett then nailed a penalty to reduce the deficit.

Ireland continued to pound away and enjoyed a lot of the ball in the All Blacks' 22, though the visitors defended relentlessly.

They appeared to crack again in the 30th minute when Tadhg Furlong crashed his way over the line only for it to be ruled out for double movement from Ronan Kelleher in the previous phase.

Shortly after, Codie Taylor was scoring as the All Blacks took advantage of some poor defence at the tail of the Irish lineout and Barrett's conversion made it 10-5 at the break.

Ireland drew level four minutes into the second half when hooker Kelleher squeezed his way over and they were in front six minutes later when Caelan Doris charged through some surprisingly poor New Zealand defence. Sexton's conversion made it 17-10 with just under half hour to go.

Sexton added a penalty but New Zealand hit back with a quick try from Will Jordan, which was converted again by Barrett.

Joey Carbery came on for Sexton in the 65th minute and his first act was to boot his side into a six-point lead with a penalty.

Shortly after, New Zealand thought they were in when Akira Ioane crossed only for the play to be called back for a forward pass from his brother Rieko. The All Blacks had to settle for a penalty from Barrett and there were three points in it with 10 minutes to go.

Carbery, though, nervelessly knocked over two late penalties to seal the victory.
