Ireland AM star Glenda Gilson admits she feared throwing up on live TV during pregnancy

Former model Glenda Gilson has opened up about her worst fear during her pregnancy - throwing up live on morning television.

The presenter said she is suffering from violent morning sickness once again while carrying her second child.

Glenda was very ill while expecting baby Bobby, now 18 months, back in 2018 - and she admitted that it is a blessing in disguise that Xposé was axed by Virgin Media.

She said switching to a more favourable schedule as Ireland AM’s entertainment reporter means she’s not busy travelling like she was with Xpose.

She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I am not working all of the time like I was before. I am at home some days so I can just lie on the bed and get myself back to normality.

“I am not a morning person but I have become one because Bobby has me up.

“I am in bed early because I am wrecked but I am not as wrecked as you would be after a night out. I am up early so Ireland AM is really suiting me.”

Glenda is very anxious about getting sick live on air but producers of the breakfast show have a plan in place to protect her on screen.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant explained: “My main worry is morning sickness on live TV, as you can imagine- the anxiety it causes is quite hard.

“There could have been a chef a few minutes beforehand cooking fish at half eight in the morning, you are like ‘Oh my God, how am I going to get through this?’

“But everyone is warned that if I have a moment, I just have to jump out of shot. I don’t know when that moment will be and hopefully it will never come.

“But that is always in the back of my mind.”

Glenda’s due date around the same as when Bobby was born and she is excited to learn the sex of her baby later this month, but she’s unsure whether to share the news.

“Bobby was born on October 22 and this little one is due on October 27,” she said.

“I am over 20 weeks now but my appointment isn’t until the 22nd of this month and that is when I will find out what I am having.

“Rob and I knew we were having a boy with Bobby but we kept it to ourselves.

“I don’t know, I am sure my mother will be dying to know so she can start getting everything ready for me.

“A lot of people asked why we found out but I think it is enough of a surprise to have a lovely little baby coming into your life.”

Glenda said that being in lockdown hit her mum Aileen the hardest.

The Virgin Media Television star explained: “It nearly killed my mother to have to look through a door or stay out in the back garden.

“We are all healthy, thankfully, and we would know all about it if we had someone sick in the family.

“Although some days Rob could never see me again and I could never see him- we have been on top of each the last couple of weeks.

“Rob and I love hanging out with each other and we are the type to fight and get over it.

“We kind of nip at each other and then get over it.”

Ireland AM airs weekday morning from 8am on Virgin Media One
