Ireland Am star Alan Hughes posts picture in hospital as he gets scans for fast heartbeat

Ireland AM host Alan Hughes has posted a picture of himself in hospital after he gets scans for his fast heartbeat.

The Virgin Media presenter, 57, said that he was getting checked to make sure that he is healthy.

Alan took to Instagram to inform his thousands of followers that he was thankfully doing OK and was undergoing tests at a private hospital in Dublin.

Posting a picture of himself wearing a mask in his bed he wrote: “Bon Secours hospital… getting angiogram and scans…seems my resting heart beat is too fast,” before adding sarcastically, “It takes a lockdown to get my heart going.

“Everyone was so kind, efficient and caring, thank you all staff at @bonsecourshospital”.

The Virgin Media star was flooded with messages from friends wishing him a speedy recovery.

Magician and illusionist Keith Barry wrote, “Get well soon”, while TV presenter Darren Kennedy said, “Hope you’re OK Alan x”.

Former Fair City actress Jenny Dixon added: “Feel better soon Alan.”

With the presenter out of action on Ireland AM colleagues Karen Koster and Tommy Bowe took over the slot.

The health scare comes just weeks after Alan wished his former colleague Mark Cagney well after he recently suffered two strokes.

The two worked together from the first episode of Ireland AM back in 1999 until Cagney left in 2019.
