Ireland AM's Simon Delaney responds as fans question continued absence from Virgin Media show

Simon Delaney has said he won't return to screens on Ireland AM until the end of the month.

The 50-year-old has been absent from the Virgin Media breakfast show for the last three weeks - leaving fans curious about the reason for his disappearance.

Aidan Power joined Anna Daly in the studio this weekend to cover for the Dublin man, RSVP reports.

Ahead of yesterday’s show, Ireland AM tweeted: “Coming up on Saturday’s show: Success on screen in hit TV shows like ‘The Witcher’ and Ridley Scott's 'Raised by Wolves' AND success on stage in legendary Irish bands @thewallsband and @TheStunningBand...

“Legend himself @stevethewall will be joining us for the chats! #IrlAM” before sharing a photo of Anna and Aidan ready to go live at 9 am.

Fans were quick to take to voice their concerns as to why Simon was missing once again this week.

One tweeted: “@IrelandAMVMTV Why is Simon Delaney not on IrelandAM again this week? Anyone care to comment?” while another tweeted Simon himself asking “hey there Simon just wondering will you be coming back to Ireland am? I miss the banter at the weekend?”

And the presenter took to social media earlier today to clear up the reason for his absence and ensure his loyal fans that he would be back on their TVs very soon.

He wrote: “Morning all! Just a quick one to let you know why I’m away from @IrelandAMVMTV at the moment.

“I’m filming a project, but will be back on the sofa with @daly_anna and the gang at the end of the month! Thx for all the messages! Stay safe, see you soon! #irelandam.”

Relieved fans were quick to reply with their support and well wishes.

“Ah great to hear that news. Missed you loads and was hoping u were not unwell. See u soon thanks for the update,” one Twitter user said.
