Ireland AM's Glenda Gilson breaks silence and explains show exit following shock departure

Glenda Gilson has spoken openly about leaving Virgin Media after 14 years with the station following her recent departure.

The Irish beauty left the show last month as is one of a number of stars who have left Virgin Media in recent weeks including Aidan Power and Anna Daly

The TV presenter said she loved her role on Ireland AM but it had to come to an end at some point and her focus is now on life as a mother, RSVP Live reports.

She went on to tease her future in the world of broadcasting, saying she has a few things on the go and she is not going anywhere anytime some.

Glenda said: "I have been a model, a TV presenter and a designer. Those jobs come and go, but I will always be a mum. And that is my proudest achievement and most important title."

She told Magazine+: "I modelled and then got asked to work on Bubble Hits, which was a 24 hour station.

"This got me a job covering maternity leave on Virgin Media. I then ended up working there for 14 years working with amazing people and doing amazing things.

"I loved it, but it had to come to an end at some point.

"Between those years and my modelling I have been in front of the camera for over two decades. I won't be going away just yet. I have a few things on the go and we will see what happens."

Glenda is focusing on the positives in her life at the moment and they include being happy and healthy and getting to spend time with her husband Rob and their two boys, three year old Bobby and Danny, aged one.

She said: "I am very happy at the moment. I am healthy and well and I have a gorgeous family who are healthy and well.

"We had some scary times during the pandemic, but are all through it now feeling very happy with ourselves.

"Being on maternity leave and then going into the pandemic meant that I got loads of time with my boys.

"It was a complete blessing. I don't want to go on about it because I am well aware that there was so much hardship in Ireland, but we were very luck. I got to spend time with my boys. And Rob's waste management business did well too."

Glenda announced she was leaving Ireland AM last month.

This news came after Anna Daly, Aidan Power and Laura Woods also left the popular breakfast show. Brianna Parkins also left her role as reporter this week.
