Ireland AM presenter Alan Hughes gets seriously injured on holiday and shares pictures from hospital

Ireland AM presenter Alan Hughes has shared pictures from hospital after seriously injuring himself while on holidays.

The chirpy host posted the pictures on Instagram where he revealed he had two broken bones and would need an operation.

Alan's left foot and leg were wrapped in a plaster bandage in a photo which he captioned: "Two bones broken, op tomorrow not the way I want to spend my holidays"

RSVP Live said that his husband Karl Broderick shared a short clip on Instagram of himself pushing Alan in a wheelchair with the caption "#ouch my little man broke his foot"

The couple were attending Maspalomas Pride in Spain. The Dublin native had shared snaps and clips from the sun-soaked event on social media in the last few days.

While Alan didn't reveal how the injury occurs, it appears that he is getting the best of care while recovering.

Alan and Karl married in a secret ceremony in 2016.

"23 years ago we met...today we tied the knot, husband and husband at last," Alan wrote on Facebook.

"Sorry we kept it secret. To all our family and friends...don't kill us! Happy and proud."

The couple had already made their love official in a civil ceremony in 2011.

They both wore designer dress suits and matching cravats, and Derek Mooney was Alan's best man.

"We are doing something that comes natural. This should be the normal thing in the world," Karl told the Herald at the time.
