The Court of Integrity in the Salaheddine province summoned on Tuesday former Minister of Science and Technology and a former governor to investigate suspicions of corruption.
“The Court of Inquiry in Salaheddine specialized in issues of integrity issued a summon order against the former Minister of Science and Technology based on the provisions of Article 331 of the Iraqi Penal Code.”
It added that "the court issued another order to summon the former governor of Salaheddine in accordance with the provisions of the same article," pointing out that "other orders have been taken against Samarra administrative manager and six employees.”
In a related development, the Integrity Committee issued a summons against the technical assistant of Dhi Qar’s governor, accusing him of corruption.
In Maysan, the Committee issued an order to summon current members of the governorate’s council based on the provisions of Article 340 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
Three members of the council were summoned for violating the law by illegally spending the money received from donations.
Since October, Iraq has been plunged in massive anti-government protests against a ruling elite they accuse of rampant corruption and mismanagement.
