Iranians unite in human chains to protect infrastructure amid Trump threats

Iranians have formed human chains across several cities, gathering on bridges and around power plants in a show of defiance as tensions with the US and Israel intensify.

Footage released by the Iranian government shows crowds gathered near a thermal power plant, forming a human chain and chanting in Farsi: “Supporting the electricity industry is the motto of our nation.”

The demonstrations come as Washington ramps up military pressure, with President Donald Trump warning of imminent strikes on critical infrastructure, saying: “A whole civilisation will die tonight.”

The IDF said it targeted key transport sites on Tuesday (7 April), warning civilians to avoid rail travel. Iran said it is seeking a lasting end to the war and has rejected pressure to reopen key oil passage the Strait of Hormuz.
