Iran warns of retaliation after Trump threatens civilian infrastructure

  • Iran has threatened to retaliate with strikes after President Donald Trump said he would “bomb and destroy” Iranian civilian infrastructure every time Tehran targets a ship in the Strait of Hormuz .
  • An Iranian military source, cited by the Tasnim state news agency, has said Iran will retaliate with strikes on regional infrastructure linked to the U.S. - including bridges and energy sites - if Washington does carry out its attacks first.
  • Both sides continue to wrestle for control of the vital waterway, with the U.S. president warning a bridge or power plant would be bombed if further attacks on ships occurred.
  • Trump's threat followed an 11th night of strikes and a breakdown in diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict
  • Traffic around the Strait of Hormuz was still subdued on Wednesday as clashes between the U.S, and Iran continue to escalate.
