Iran warns Gulf states of energy infrastructure retaliation if US launches fresh attack

  • Iran has warned Gulf states that any new US attack on its territory would trigger retaliation against critical regional energy infrastructure.
  • Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign ministry said it has reached an understanding with Oman on the opening of a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, with the proposed deal giving Tehran control over ships entering the Gulf through the Strait, an Iranian source and officials told Reuters.
  • President Donald Trump said that his administration held “very good discussions” with Iran during all-day negotiations on Tuesday. He told Fox News that the Strait of Hormuz “is going to be very open very soon” or Iran will “get hit really hard”.
  • Shipping traffic through ​the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-el-Mandeb strait reduced significantly on Wednesday from the ⁠previous day, while Houthis said they had launched missile attacks on Saudi tankers.
  • One person was killed and 12 wounded after an Israeli strike on Tebnine on Wednesday, Lebanon’s health ministry said. It comes as two Israeli ⁠soldiers were ⁠killed ​in southern ⁠Lebanon on the same day, according to ⁠the Israeli military.
