A suicide bombing in south-eastern Iran has killed at least 27 members of the country’s Revolutionary Guards, state media has said.

The attacker targeted a bus transporting personnel near the Pakistan border, in the Sistan-Baluchestan province, on Wednesday.

Jaish al Adl (Army of Justice), the Sunni Muslim militant group, claimed responsibility for the deadly blast.

The Revolutionary Guards, which were set up shortly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, are a major military, political and economic force in the Middle Eastern country.

The bomber drove a vehicle laden with explosives and attacked a bus transporting members of the Guards, a statement said. At least 27 were killed and 13 people were wounded.

A video showed blood and debris at the site of the attack on a road in a volatile area near the Pakistan border where militants operate.

The bus was turned into a twisted pile of metal, a photo that appeared to be from the scene showed.
