Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei declared on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump’s peace plan to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, dubbed the “Deal of the Century”, will die before Trump dies.
“The American plot of the ‘Deal of the Century’ will die before Trump dies,” he said according to a tweet from his official account.
Trump’s plan was seen as overwhelmingly in favor of Israel.
The product of three years effort by senior adviser Jared Kushner, the plan would recognize Israel’s authority over settlements and would require the Palestinians to meet a highly difficult series of conditions to be allowed to have a state, with its capital in a West Bank village east of Jerusalem.
The terms have been roundly rejected by Palestinian leaders, with President Mahmoud Abbas vowing the proposal would end up in the dustbin of history.
On Saturday, he announced a cut of all ties with Israel and the United States, including security cooperation.
