Iran Records 197 COVID-19 Deaths in 24 Hours

The Iranian Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that 197 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic were registered in the country in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry recorded 10,644 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to more than 5,888,000.

Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, quoted the Ministry as saying that 5,455,329 patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

The agency said that some 4,127 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition and in intensive care units, adding that 51,738,578 Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine and 31,718,775 people have so far received the second dose.

Wednesday’s number of deaths from complications caused by the disease brought the total number of fatalities in the country to 125,716.
