A number of people have been injured in two separate shootings in the Iranian parliament and at the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran, several semi-official Iranian news agencies reported.
A guard was hit in the leg and two members of the public were injured in the incident in parliament on Wednesday morning, the Fars news agency reported.
The incident was quickly followed by reports of a gunman opening fire at Ayatollah Khomeini's tomb in southern Tehran. Initial reports from local media say several people have been injured. It is not clear if the attacker has been apprehended.
The two civilians injured at parliament were said to be members of different constituencies who had come to visit their deputies.
The male assailant escaped the building but was captured as he was on the run, the agency reports.
However, a senior MP, Elyas Hazrati, said three assailants had attacked parliament, carrying two Kalashnikov rifles and a handgun.
A witness told Reuters security forces had massed inside and outside parliament, and that the incident was now over.
The identity and motivation of the attacker was still unclear, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reports.
